Until further notice, I will be on sabbatical from posting to this blog. I have too many responsibilities with my job at The Sun right now that come before blogging and I have to focus my attention on them.
I expect this sabbatical to last at least a month. When it ends, I’ll start posting again. I would recommend checking back once a week to see if I’m back.
Also, in a few days I will remove this blog from being featured by The Jamestown Sun’s Web site. When it is seen on the Web site again, that means I’ve returned.
Some North Dakota youngsters made a video poking fun at North Dakota while I was in Kansas. Their goal is to get as more pageviews as there are people in North Dakota. As of this writing, they’re more than a third of the way there.
It’s not all that bad, but I didn’t exactly r. I bet I’d think it was funnier if I’d ever actually listened to the song it parodies (Katy Perry’s “California Gurls”) but that would mean listening to Katy Perry, and I don’t do that sort of thing unless I can’t avoid it.
Here’s the video. Try your luck at the commenting system to say what you think about it.
UPDATE: Well, this new Areavoices software won’t let me embed Youtube videos, it seems, so I’m just going to have to link to it. CLICK HERE. It also won’t allow me to tag posts.

I’m going to be gone on a long weekend to visit my family. I don’t have time to fix all the stuff that’s screwed up with the blog and whatnot, so that will just have to stay the way it is for now. I’m sorry, but that’s life. I’ll be back late next weekend, and then I’ll see what I can do.
I know this stinks, but I’ve reached my limits as a human being. I need a break. See you when I get back.

I was informed by the folks running Areavoices.com this morning that the old comments from this blog are not lost forever, they just haven’t been migrated over yet.
Here are some photos Rick Bohn shared with me. With this new software, you should see smaller photos that you can click through to see larger versions.
This first one is a field somewhere in the Jamestown area that is full of spiders and spiderwebs.
This one is a thunderstorm near Medina, N.D., as seen from the Interstate 94 exit.
And this storm cloud is seen northeast of Medina.

You’re probably wondering why things are so different. Areavoices changed to a new software for the blogging platform, and this is it.
I’ve finally managed to get back into my Areavoices.com account after the big changeover after being unable to access it all day. They also changed my login information and sent me a new password, which didn’t work. If you’re experiencing a similar problem on your blog, just do the “Forgot my password” option. If your login doesnt’ work, then it’s likely the Areavoices folks changed it.
It seems all comments ever left on my blog have been deleted. I don’t know if that’s permanent or not.
I’m not even sure if I’m doing this post right.
Also, the URLs have changed for all areavoices blogs. My address is now adams.areavoices.com
UPDATE: I can post, it seems, and you can comment, but it seems those comments won’t post to the page. Instead, they get e-mailed to me. I’m trying to find out if I have to change something for comments to work.

I’m sending a few rolls of medium format along with a set of Kodachrome slides to ScanCafe in California. Once there, they’ll be packed into a shipping container with several other scanning jobs, flown to Bangelore, India, and scanned. Sometime in the next 3 months, I’ll get those scans back with my film. I’m hoping they turn out well.
So good luck, film. Have a fun journey.

I’m inviting all you readers to click on the comments link below and share your opinions and experiennces with this restaurant. I hope to hear about the quality of food, the service, the atmosphere, the prices and anything else that matters to you.
Also, readers, I’m having trouble keeping track of which restaurants we’ve had Food Fights over and trying to think of new ones to write about. For example, even though I couldn’t find evidence we’ve done it, I could’ve sworn we’ve already reviewed Perkin’s in this series. So if you can think of one that we should discuss, drop me an e-mail.

This week’s featured song is "Mrs. Potters Lullaby" by Counting Crows. I’m posting it because I’ve got a road trip coming up next week, and this is one of my favorite songs in the world to drive to. The instruments — the piano especially — just have this constant rolling sensation to their notes that make me feel like I’m moving along and getting somewhere.
I’ll often start this song whenever I’m about to drive through a large city on the highway where I’ll have to stay alert and make lots of lane changes and take lots of exits and onramps. It usually gets me most of the way through Council Bluffs, Iowa, on Interstate 29, and that town always seems like it’s trying to kill me.

This is the blog of Logan C. Adams, assistant editor of The Jamestown Sun. Since September 2007, this is where he has chronicled his life in North Dakota as he discovered what it takes to live in this state.
