Go to Fort Ransom this weekend

The Sheyenne Valley Arts and Crafts Festival returns for its 44th year this weekend. This is an awesome festival and Fort Ransom is one of my favorites in all of North Dakota. Here’s the details from the SVACA:

The Sheyenne Valley Arts & Crafts Association is proud to sponsor the 44th Annual Fall Festival in Fort Ransom on September 24 and 25, 2011. Come out for the day and enjoy the fall colors of the Sheyenne River Valley as you drive to scenic Fort Ransom.

About 150 exhibitors will be set up around the town to display and sell their work, with something available for everyone. The exhibits are open from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm both Saturday and Sunday. Parking is free, and you can ride a shuttle, or take a short stroll to downtown, plus take in the beautiful scenery of Fort Ransom.

There will be an art show in Bear Creek Hall Saturday and Sunday, with a wide variety of items on display. There will be demonstrations of various forms of artwork by some of the artists, and also entertainment for kids and adults alike.

Saturday the Standing Rock Lutheran Church Bazaar opens at 10:00 am, and a delicious dinner will be served starting at 10:30 am. Sunday at noon is the Community Club turkey barbeque at the Fire Hall, downtown Fort Ransom. The food court at Stiklestad Park will be set up with food vendors having a variety of items ready to feed hungry shoppers, as well as snacks such as Kettle Korn, lattes, baked goods, and Bavarian Roasted Almonds. The Fort Ransom School PTCC will be serving food Saturday and Sunday in the Senior Center. Downtown, there is the local bar ready and willing to serve food and beverages. The museum will also be open both days to explore, and the ski hill will be offering chair lift rides from 3:30 to 5:30 pm, an exciting way to view Fort Ransom and the countryside in all it splendor! Come and spend a day or two in beautiful Fort Ransom!
