Monday is a mix-breed dog at the James River Humane Society. She’s believed to have Labrador retriever and border collie in her lineage. You can look at her Petfinder.com profile here.
We often get people in at the shelter looking for little and medium-sized dogs, while the larger dogs take a little longer to find families. Monday is one of the medium dogs, so if that’s the size of dog you need, come take a look at her.
These pictures really don’t Monday much justice. She really is so much prettier in person. Her fur is soft and thick and it’s rather enjoyable to pet her. She is a sweethearted dog, but she also has a fair amount of energy.
Actually, make that a considerable sum of energy. This dog likes to run, so a yard or daily walks are an absolute must. Otherwise she’ll get unhappy.
You’ll also want to be prepared to do some work on her manners. She likes to bark, and you’ll need to discipline her and make her learn when to be noisy and when to be quiet.
As her profile points out, Monday loves to run. She would be a good hunting dog even for an apartment dweller who likes to go out on runs. I get the feeling being around her she would also be good at alerting her master to danger and even defending her master from danger, even though she’s only of medium size.
If you want to meet Monday, come by the JRHS pet shelter between 10 a.m. and noon and from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. (That’s visiting hours.
