Good dog: Chase

Meet Chase.

Chase is a black Labrador retriever mix who is at that stage in life where he looks big enough to have grown up but still has a lot of puppy in him. You can see his profile here.

Chase is absolutely great with people and children. He is loving and caring to all the two-legged creatures out there, but there are some four-legged animals he doesn’t get along with.

Some dogs, he’s OK with. Others, he has some aggression issues with. It really depends on the dog.

As for cats, that’s and absolute NO! Chase has serious problems with cats and cannot go to a home with cats under any circumstances. He’s already killed a cat on one occasion after the feline got out into the dog area and we will not take the risk of him harming another.

So, remember, Chase is great with people, OK with some dogs and absolutely awful with cats. Which means he’s the perfect dog for a cat-hater.

Chase also seems like a great potential hunting dog, as he has lots of energy and a strong desire to please. If you need a retriever for waterfowling, he might be worth a shot.

Finally, keep in mind that these photos of Chase were taken back when there was snow on the ground and Chase has grown considerably since then. If you want to see his current size, come to the James River Humane Society animal shelter between 10 a.m. and noon or 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday through Saturday.
