My grandfather, Yvo Ralph Ebert, served in the Pacific Theater of World War II. Above is a picture of the brick bearing his name at the Fort Seward Veterans Memorial.
Grandpa Ebert came back, married and had 12 children, including my mother.
Grandpa died in the 1960s in a car accident. His wife, Patricia, raised those dozen children almost entirely on her own for nearly a decade before she married Dave Hund. She then helped raise his 11 children, and her 12, as one family.
Patricia, my grandmother and the most incredible woman I have ever known, died Sunday night. I had been planning to show her a photo of that brick on my next trip down, but fate prevented that.
I’m going to be spending Thursday driving down to Kansas for the services and to be with my family. I’ll be back Tuesday.
That’s all I’ll be writing on the matter for now. When I understand all this enough, I’ll write more.

My condolences to you and your family. I lost my grandmother last week. Sounds like she’ll be in great company.
Peace.
My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family, she was a great lady and she will be sorely missed.
I am sorry for your loss, Logan. It sounds like your grandmother was a wonderful lady. I bet you have many fond memories and stories. My thoughts and prayers for you and your family.
